GUELPH, ON – September 19, 2025 – McFadden’s Movement is proud to announce another record-breaking donation of $36,500 to local mental health resources. The funds will be split evenly between the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Waterloo-Wellington and, for the first time, CMHA Grey Bruce, with each receiving $18,250 to support critical youth resources and community programming.

This milestone contribution not only reflects the continued generosity of McFadden’s Movement supporters, but also highlights the organization’s deep commitment to keeping mental health support close to home — including founder Garrett McFadden’s community of Kincardine, as well as Owen Sound and the Grey Bruce region.
“It means a lot to see Garrett continue to give back to the community where he grew up,” Don Vail, Communications and Funding Manager for CMHA Grey Bruce, said. “Through McFadden’s Movement, he has turned his personal journey into a powerful message that encourages conversations about mental health and supports services right here in Grey Bruce. We are truly grateful for his commitment.”
The 2025 cheque presentation was held at The Grove, CMHA Waterloo-Wellington’s new Children and Youth Services building located at 737 Woolwich Street in Guelph. The Movement’s contributions played a role in making this innovative facility a reality. The Grove is a 48,000 sq ft, three-floor, one-stop hub for children, youth (up to age 26), and families, housing more than 30 service providers under one roof. This central location now helps over 9,000 local children and youth each year access the resources they need to thrive.
“When people come to CMHA Waterloo-Wellington seeking mental health support, they are vulnerable, looking for help, and hoping for recovery. It takes a lot of courage to ask for help, and because of the support of McFadden’s Movement, we are able to be there when people need us most,” Beth King, Manager of Fund Development for CMHA Waterloo-Wellington, shared. “Garrett and Stephanie, through McFadden’s Movement, are building awareness, reducing stigma, and raising critical funds to support individuals and families in our community.”
In reflecting on the impact of this year’s record donation, McFadden’s Movement founder Garrett McFadden shared:
“We never imagined we’d be able to reach this level when McFadden’s Movement started in 2016. The support from our community and partners continues to amaze us. To see the impact we’re able to make — from supporting youth mental health in Guelph to extending that support to Grey Bruce — is something I’m grateful for. This record donation is the perfect way to kick off our 10-year anniversary celebrations, and it only motivates us to keep pushing forward to support the mental health needs of our youth and our future.”
Founded in 2016, this this marks the ninth donation from McFadden’s Movement. Since the inaugural contribution following the 2016-17 hockey season, the Movement has donated a total of $194,500 in support of mental health resources.
