McFadden’s Movement Marks 10th Anniversary with Record $41,000 Donation to CMHA Waterloo Wellington and CMHA Grey Bruce

Milestone contribution brings decade-long support for mental health resources to more than $235,000

GUELPH, ON – McFadden’s Movement is proud to mark its 10th anniversary with a record donation of $41,000 in support of youth mental health resources through the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Waterloo Wellington and CMHA Grey Bruce.

The milestone contribution is the largest single-year donation in McFadden’s Movement history and brings the organization’s total raised in support of mental health resources to $235,255.63 over 10 years.

With the 2026 donation, both CMHA Waterloo Wellington and CMHA Grey Bruce received $21,500 each, providing equal support to mental health resources in both communities.

The donation follows a landmark anniversary year for the Movement, highlighted by its 10th Anniversary Gala and sixth annual Celebrity Charity Classic, both presented by Skyjack. Together, the two events brought supporters, partners, volunteers, mental health advocates, friends, and members of the community together to celebrate a decade of the Movement while continuing to raise funds and awareness for mental health resources.

What began in 2016 with founder Garrett McFadden sharing his own story and a commitment to helping change the conversation surrounding mental health has grown into a community-driven initiative that has now raised more than $235,000.

For the Movement, reaching the 10-year milestone represents the work to make conversations surrounding mental health easier, reduce stigma, and help connect young people and families with resources in the communities that have supported the Movement from the beginning.

“We never could have imagined 10 years ago that McFadden’s Movement would grow into what it is today,” Garrett McFadden, founder of McFadden’s Movement, shared. “To be able to donate $41,000 to both CMHA Waterloo Wellington and CMHA Grey Bruce in our 10th year is something we’re really proud of. None of this would be possible without the support of our partners, sponsors, friends, family, and everyone who continues to believe in what we’re doing. We know there is still a lot of work to be done when it comes to mental health, and we’re excited to keep pushing forward, making conversations easier, and supporting the resources that are there for young people when they need them.”

McFadden’s Movement has maintained a longstanding relationship with CMHA Waterloo Wellington, supporting local mental health resources throughout the organization’s history. In recent years, that support has included The Grove, a one-stop hub in Guelph connecting children, youth up to age 26 and families with a wide range of services and supports.

“Thank you to McFadden’s Movement and its community of supporters for 10 years of incredible generosity,” said Helen Fishburn, CEO CMHA Waterloo Wellington. “What began as an idea has grown into meaningful action, inspiring important conversations about mental health, and creating lasting impact in our community. We are honoured to be the beneficiaries of these gifts and know that these donations have supported countless children, youth, and families through services provided in our Children and Youth Services Building. We are deeply grateful for McFadden’s Movement’s ongoing commitment to improving mental health and well-being for young people.”

The Movement expanded the reach of its annual donation to CMHA Grey Bruce in 2025, ensuring financial support for the area where McFadden grew up and strengthening the organization’s connection to communities including Kincardine, Owen Sound, and the broader Grey Bruce area.

“On behalf of CMHA Grey Bruce, we extend a heartfelt thank you to McFadden’s Movement for their generous donation in support of youth mental health,” Scott McKay, CMHA Grey Bruce Director of Client Services, shared. “Your kindness and commitment will help make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people in our community. We are truly grateful for your support.”

The 2026 contribution follows what had been a record $36,500 donation in 2025. That total was surpassed this year after the Movement raised $40,755.63 through its anniversary fundraising efforts.

Over the past decade, the Movement’s fundraising has grown alongside the community that supports it. Its history includes back-to-back $20,000 contributions in 2018 and 2019, $10,000 in 2020, $20,000 in 2021, $25,000 in each of 2022, 2023 and 2024, and $36,500 in 2025 before reaching a new record in its 10th year.

For McFadden, the anniversary donation is an opportunity to recognize how far the Movement has come while keeping its focus firmly on why it began.

The milestone year was made possible by a community that has continued to grow around the Movement. Sponsors, donors, volunteers, family, friends, current and former teammates, event participants, community partners, and supporters have each played a role in helping turn an idea that began in 2016 into a decade of impact.

The 10th-anniversary donation closes an important chapter in the Movement’s history while setting the stage for what comes next.
