On Wednesday, June 7, the athletes of Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute invited Garrett McFadden to serve as a guest speaker for their 2017 Athletic Banquet.
McFadden shared the basis of McFadden’s Movement, some of his own obstacles dating back to high school, and spoke of the importance of communication for anyone’s overall mental health.
Students then presented McFadden with a cheque totalling $1076.25 from a car wash organized by the school’s Athletic Council, hoping to raise funds for McFadden’s Movement. The students also thanked McFadden with a plaque recognizing the Guelph Storm captain as a distinguished leader in Canadian sports, along with a GCVI toque.
