On Friday, January 19th, McFadden’s Movement was proud to host Mashelle Fahim as the MM27 Ambassador of the Game.
Mashelle, a 16-year-old who attends Guelph Centennial Vocational Institute in Guelph, opened up about dealing with anxiety, chronic depression, and PTSD, while also sharing that mental illness affects some members of her family as well.
“Mental health is so important to me because I know first hand how hard it is to have to deal with mental illness,” Mashelle said of her own struggles. “It’s a battle you fight every single day and it mostly involves fighting with yourself.”
“I also know how much of a stigma mental health has,” Mashelle continued. “And that people are just now accepting the fact that it’s okay to have a mental illness, and that it doesn’t define who you are.”
