On Saturday, June 8, McFadden’s Movement welcomed a record 27 teams to the 3rd annual MM27 Road Hockey Tournament at Centennial Collegiate & Vocational Institute (CCVI) in Guelph. With three divisions including 108 players spanning from as young as eight-years-old through to an 18+ division, along with over 30 volunteers, the tournament raised $4238.27 for mental health resources.
The event once again welcomed several Guelph Storm players including MM27 Ambassador Isaac Ratcliffe, Cam Hillis, Owen Lalonde, Anthony Popovich, and Jack Hanley, while featuring former Storm players such as Austin Hall, Noah Carroll, Ryan Merkley, Barret Kirwin, and Zach Poirier. Looking to the future as well, newly drafted Storm prospect Braeden Bowman was also competing in the tournament.
Some more sentiment came with this year’s tournament as two weeks before the day, saw the Movement cancelling the event due to lack of teams. Refusing to let that happen, so many supporters rallied, and in just two days, the tournament was on its way to a record amount of teams hosted. With that, the Movement can’t thank all those who pushed to make this possible, and ultimately such a huge success.
A big and grateful thank-you also goes out to all of our volunteers who spent the day helping in any way they could. To those who volunteered their time to referee, sell raffle tickets and MM27 merchandise, control parking, chase after balls, and so much more, MM27 thanks you and knows this event wouldn’t have been possible without all of your help and support.
The Movement would also like to recognize and graciously thank all of the tournament’s sponsors for making the 3rd annual MM27 Road Hockey Tournament a possibility through their endless support:
- Guelph Storm
- Linamar
- Franklin Self Storage, Store All
- Speedvale Dental

- Directsave
- Guelph Police Association
- Nestle Waters
- S.W.A.T Food Truck & Catering

Finally, to all those who registered a team and came out to play, the Movement appreciates your support and can’t wait to see you all back again next year!
